My students are majority English Language Learners who need exciting, different, and creative lessons to help them feel comfortable in the classroom. Flexible seating, bright notes, and interactive games help create that exact atmosphere. With students ranging from Beginner to Advanced High in the English language, differentiating instruction for each student is crucial. Having an area where students can choose how they sit encourages their brain to flow - no one likes being stuck in one chair for hours! Creating "stations" is for the secondary classroom just as much as the elementary; these students need to be able to grow in curricula as well as language. Color is key! I cannot stress enough the growth I have seen in students by popping a little color into their notes. They are more likely to review the notes, and will often pair the funky notes with the idea and remember down the line.
