We have selected a year long curriculum full of high quality children's literature books that teach kindness, empathy, self-regulation and mindfulness. These books will be used across 4 classrooms as a springboard to teach character traits, invite collaborative conversation and build social skills in our first grade students. Our children have a strong need for positive modeling and we believe these books will create a lifelong link to habits that will make their futures better. These books will be used for read-alouds, group discussions and writing projects, and then placed in classroom libraries where children can revisit them during read-to-self times. We are certain they will become classroom favorites and talking points to help them navigate their daily challenges
