Second grade learners are knee-deep in learning to read-- learning about phonics rules, tricky sight words, and learning how to interact with text in increasingly meaningful ways. In my classroom, students are not only learning to read, but they are also given opportunities to develop a love of reading that will serve them far into the future. These bins are just what I need to keep books organized while sparking a love of reading for my students. Allowing each student to have a book bin where they can keep texts will increase their sense of ownership in my classroom, as well as give them the opportunity to read and reread favorite texts.
