Have you ever asked a five year old what they want to learn in kindergarten? If their answer was, "I want to learn how to read!" you are describing my students. One of their biggest goals for the end of kindergarten is to become a reader. Just like children learn to walk and talk at different paces, children learn to read a different paces. My students need a variety of books to help them grow as readers no matter where they are at in their reading journey. They may be reading just the pictures. They may be going on letter hunts. They may be reading the sight words. They may be decoding simple words. They may be asking and answering questions about their book. Regardless of their skill level, my students need to have books available to them that will further them in their reading journey. By donating to this project, you will help my future students accomplish their biggest kindergarten goal: becoming a reader. This project will help get a variety of books into the hands of the littlest learners to meet them where they are at. These books will be used during guided reading, shared reading, and partner reading. Think back to when you were in kindergarten and how proud, successful, and accomplished you felt to finally read a book on your own. Help my students experience that same joy of feeling like a reader.
