My student's disabilities vary but the majority have mild to severe learning disabilities that put them 2-3 years behind grade level. About 13% of our school qualify for special education and I see about 45 students in a typical school day. I have wonderful students that work really hard to learn and participate in the general education classroom. I see two groups of each grade level per day. I serve students who have reading or writing support needs on their IEP. Groups are made based on their abilities and reading levels. We work on current skills they may be learning in the general education classroom as well as skills that they are missing. My students are wonderful individuals who keep me on my toes, make me laugh daily, and make work the highlight of my day.
