One of the most important lessons I learned from college was our students should ALWAYS come first, no matter the circumstances. It does not matter where you teach or who you teach or what legislation says, you should always think about the students first. I teach a diverse group of students who come from all different economic backgrounds. Many of them love coming to school because it is like home for them; they feel loved, comforted, and happy. My students have limited knowledge of the world around them due to financial limitations that do not allow them to explore outside of their communities. My goal every year is to be able to broaden my students' knowledge of the world around them so they can achieve what they set their minds to.
