I chose these items so my students can see themselves reflected in the books they read. It is important to have a diverse library because we live in a diverse world. Your donation will also go towards Caldecott award-winning books, that all students should have access to. The lighting, colors, and overall atmosphere can either motivate or deter students. Specifically for independent reading time and creative expression. I want to give them a classroom space that feels safe, comforting, and energizing for sharing out their writing to the class, which can be an overwhelming and vulnerable experience for kids. These items are integral in creating that special space for them that they deserve.
