Most of the families in my classroom are native Spanish speaking, but don't have a collection of books at home to read to their children. In the classroom, our library desperately needs an update that provides my students with a variety of books in their first language. The books that we do have in Spanish are very old and outdated. My students are resilient, motivated to learn, and craving books that they can connect to. By having a large collection of children's books in their native language, my students will be able to have fun and develop a true love of reading, setting them up for great success.
