My students are vivacious 6, 7 and 8 year old children from the Bronx. They attend a K-8 public school that was built in the 1920's. They do not have much but they appreciate everything I have to offer them. Most of them get their two main meals in the school and won't have dinner or will have a sandwich for dinner when they go home. Many are wearing clothes that are too small for them. Some will come to school when they are sick because their parents can't miss work to care for them. From September to June they are my children and I do all I can to nurture and educate them. They are special, smart and important and I let them know that everyday.
