In my classroom, students are expected to read independently every single day for 30 minutes! For some students, this is a very hard task. By providing literacy centers with games focused on phonics and vocabulary, students will be able to practice building their phonological awareness, expand their vocabulary, and still work towards becoming better readers. Other items will help contribute to a welcoming and organized classroom, where materials can be kept in bins and students will be able to use a calendar during our morning meeting time. Struggling readers often have difficulty with their reading stamina and by providing engaging literacy options, students will be engaged in self-checking literacy tasks. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, but you will also ultimately help to increase their academic achievement in reading and help create a love for reading!
