I am a high school social studies teacher at a very small, all-boys college prep magnet school in Houston, Texas. We are a public school and Title I, with about 49% of our students being African American and about 46% being Hispanic. Due to the fact that we are small (approximately 175 students in grades 9th-12th), I am solely responsible for many classes: AP US History, AP Government & Politics, AP Macroeconomics, AP Psychology, AP Research, and Model UN. This is my second year teaching at my current school (last year I also taught AP World History), and I absolutely love it. The kids are amazing -- they have great personalities and great brains! Every year I strive to improve my practice, while maintaining a sense of freedom and individualism so they students can thrive and succeed.
