Reading expands our minds. It helps us understand language, writing, grammar, and imagination. Most of my 4th grade students are bilingual and speak a language other than English at home. Because of the difficulty with English this causes difficulty with math word problems, reading comprehension, spelling, and more. Books help students grow in all areas of their education. The goal is to help students have access to a variety of books, encourage them to read, and improve English skills. Our school does not have a library and most parents are unsure how or where to access age appropriate chapter books. Therefore, our classroom needs a class library where these students can access books with topics they are interested in and learn English along the way.
