While the standard classroom is the typical place one thinks of students learning, sometimes we educators have to get creative with our students' learning environments. With all of the hustle and bustle of a typical classroom, noise levels tend to rise and make way for lots of distractions. This makes standard classrooms often unsuitable for small group intervention. At our beloved school, space is EXTREMELY limited. Because of this, you will often see small groups meeting in the hallways, in the basement, or even under the stairs.
As a small group teacher, I would love to give the students who need extra support the same experience they may get in the classroom (except in my makeshift classroom under the stairs).
While my students love coming to my makeshift classroom (even naming it "The Learning Zone"), they often miss out on the technology aspect of learning inside the classroom. By using a mini projector, I will be able to increase visibility and engagement when it comes to intervention. With this projector, I can enlarge problems to solve together and even display videos that support the students' learning. The students benefiting from this device will be students who need some extra support and instruction. All in all, extra support without technology does not support 21st-century learners. So help me make everywhere a classroom at our school.
