I am an educator in the Bay Area, on the east side of San Jose. I serve in a district that is rich in Vietnamese and Hispanic culture. Majority of my students are second language learners and are at or below the poverty line. We face gang issues, broken homes, and lack of resources; however, it does not stop these kids from coming to school each day and trying their best. Despite the challenges that face my school's neighborhood, I can honestly say that enjoy teaching for my district, and I adore all my students. Together, we face how unfair life can be, but we also marvel in how spectacular and beautiful life is each day. I love exposing my students to lives beyond themselves through literature and social science. I really am blessed to be an educator.
