Students read every Friday for 35-45 minutes and need some comfy places to sit as well as tablets that can access my already extensive e-library. I have over 1,400 e-books for students to pick from. Each tablet is like holding the entire library in your hand. Students who are given access to books and opportunity, class time, to read, are much more likely to become long-term readers. I want students to come together as a community of readers, share their experiences, and exchange ideas and book criticism in Reader Roundtable discussions. These students will become their own experts on whichever books they choose to read, leading to a student-directed classroom of readers. My goal is to nurture avid readers and create new readers from non-readers.
