Distance learning is a uniquely challenging experience for all students, especially as my students are starting their high school careers. To be successful in high school and beyond, they need to learn the skills of writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization and reading. One of the main ways to teach these skills is having the students create planners and giving them a systematic way to take notes. These integrated notebooks will allow the students to practice the physical act of taking notes, involving them in the kinesthetic process of writing which increases retention, while also allowing them the ability to upload their work digitally, in a medium that can easily be shared with their teachers and peers. This also permits the students to archive and create digital records of material which will prove integral to success of navigating the complexities of remote learning.
