I teach 5 different sections of 12th Grade English. Each class has a minimum of 23 students, and on average most of them are between 17 & 18 years old. I am trying to get all of my students ready for what lies ahead of them after they graduate. Some will embark upon a journey into college or trade school, some join the military, and others are jumping right into a full time job, still trying to figure out what their future holds for them. In any case, I try my best not only to each them the English Curriculum, but also some "real world" realities that they may never have been taught before. Just being able to have an open classroom for them to come and eat lunch with me in, not only gives them a break from the school structure, but to seek answers to questions that many other subjects do not teach. Real life requires REAL LIFE SKILLs, and unfortunately, not all schools teach this information or these skills.
