My students have spent a year and a half learning from home with limited opportunities to socialize with children outside of their families. The different games and cards will support my students in developing their socioemotional skills while also building relationships with their peers while allowing them to maintain physical distance per COVID-19 guidelines. The different stickers, markers, erasers, and more are incentives that I will use to keep students engaged in learning and reward them for hard work. Lastly, the seat sacks will help my students keep their materials organized while limiting opportunities for students to share materials. My students deserve a classroom where they can have fun and foster a love of learning while staying safe. My school has very strong curricular materials, but I believe we are not doing enough to support our students' socioemotional development. Many of them have lost family members and felt isolated during COVID-19. They are re-entering classrooms after 18 months at home and would greatly benefit from games that will help them build relationships with their classmates and practice identifying and expressing their feelings.
