The items I am requesting will greatly help in the education of my students. Being a special education classroom, small groups are how we facilitate learning the best. We have 12 students and only 1 full time teacher, 1 full time aid, and 1 part time aid. The groups work best if there are 3 in each. Doing the math, you can see the teachers are outnumbered. Having iPads would help create another rotation for the students. One more way to learn that is different from the other rotations. We would also use various educational apps to reiterate concepts taught in the classroom. There are also tons of resources to help facilitate STEM activities. They will also be used for motivation and rewards. Every kid loves to play games, especially if they are on an iPad! The iPads will be used as a part of our "Center Time." If the students have made good choices, they get to have free time at the end of the day. We have centers like LEGGOs, games and puzzles, and drawing. Having this high preference reward would decrease behaviors which would increase academic learning. Technology also helps bridge the gap between the special education and the general education realms. Our goal is to eventually mainstream our students back into the General Education classroom. It would be helpful to be familiar and be able to use the same technology they have in general education classrooms. This grant would help in SO many ways and would effect SO many children over the years. I truly need your support to make my dream job even dreamier!
