My students come from all parts of the world. Some of them have been displaced due to non viable conditions in their country of origin. In some cases their parents have risked even their lives to make it possible for them to arrive to the United States of America. Cubans, Venezuelans, Vietnamese, Dominicans, Indians, you name it. The majority of them come from Spanish speaking countries in which learning English as a second language is not an option. In spite the language barrier my students face day in and out, they are creative, clever, and always try their best to catch up with the rest of the students who are native English speakers.
