The students that I teach range from 3rd-5th grade and different disabilities. With that being said, they're also much larger than students I've taught in the past. This requires my classroom to provide more space for learning.
By having stand up desks in my classroom, my students will not only have more room but they will also be able to focus more. I have students that learn best when standing up. Personally, this has never bothered me because, it's part of their disability to have difficulty to sit still for sustained amount of time. When the student is given a choice to stand in an area that doesn't impede on the learning of others, motivation to learn and keep that privilege is increased.
Students in my classroom also don't have as much room to type when working on the computers, due to limited space. By providing wireless keyboards and mouse, space will be freed up and the students can remain focused on the task given.
If these materials are funded, my students and I would be eternally grateful for the new seating options, space and the fact that someone cared enough to stand up for their individual needs in the classroom.
