This semester my US History Class and Historical Topics class will both be looking at the decade of the 1960's. This decade was pivotal in shaping our country as well as individual rights. With the world headed to another turning point today it makes sense to analyze this decade. However, I realized we must look at the 60's as a whole. To do this I proposed creating a music video and an accompanying poster that highlights and summarizes what we have learned this semester. It is important to my students to learn from the events of the 1960's to apply them to today's world. With these materials we can effectively work on these projects. The students can use the headphones to edit their music videos without disturbing others. The USB cords will allow them to upload the videos they record on their phones onto their school devices. The posters and ink will help with the large amount of printing and poster they will display for showcase. As Theodore Roosevelt said, "The more you know about the past, the better prepared you are for the future." The principals and beliefs of the decade were as important then as they are today. Many fights started in that decade are still swinging today and effect my students. I know they will see those similarities and be passionate about this project.
