Our younger kiddos often have 'carpet time' with a brief story, share time, or question and answer time preceding their art lesson. The problem is, it's hard to have carpet time with an old dingy carpet that was pulled out of an outdoor storage area. My kiddos would LOVE a new colorful inspiring carpet that is clearly MADE FOE THE ART ROOM!!! As the Art Teacher, I am ALWAYS cutting paper!!! I am always trying to economize with the limited art supply budget we have, so I cut larger paper down to make it stretch farther. Like my classroom carpet, my paper cutter has been around WAY longer than I have (13 years, at least!) My paper cutter is old, does not have a safety guard, and is becoming less and less effective by the day... A new one would change everything and have a positive effect for everyone!!! Lastly, I really want to teach my kiddos how to draw different types of intricate line patterns. 'Line' is one of the most basic Elements of Art, and I feel my students would greatly benefit from learning how different lines work together to create patterns. The Zentangle books will help them to learn the skills needed to create patterns using an easy Step-by-Step approach. The markers are to demonstrate and create art!
