My classroom project is designed to position my students as competent in their learning and showcase their progress throughout the year. Most of the supplies in my cart are general start up resources that aide in classroom organization, management, and focus on differentiated learning. The carpet serves as community seating area in which we will engage in read aloud. The pocket charts will serve as visual aides for children that need scheduling. The pillows will be used in the reading area of my classroom to make students more comfortable while they explore books.
Additionally, I've requested a camera that will be able to capture my students academic progress throughout the year. This camera will help students see education is marathon and not a sprint. It will help highlight growth and reinforce all of the hard work they've put into the year. As a special education teacher it is important for me to highlight the small victories in my students learning. The video footage will also a foster an environment where self esteem is built by having the children reflect on their academic achievements.
