Students thrive when working in my small guided reading and guided math groups. The horseshoe shaped table will make a huge difference in how students connect with one another as well as with me while working in small groups. The table we currently sit at is too large and far a part. This table would make our group sessions more personal and an even greater way for my ELL students to interact with one another. The students enjoy working in small groups and working in their interactive notebooks. Having the book bins would help my students remain organized with their guided group notebooks. This unique group gets excited about reading and getting "lost in their books" and they would appreciate alternate seating, such as the bean bags instead of their regular chairs! They also work diligently on their math program, Dreambox. This math program requires volume so that they can hear the instructions and hints. Headphones would make a difference for those students who need to tune out outside distractions and want to stay focused on the math program. The students have a class pet, which is a leopard gecko. They love making connections to read aloud stories when the book is about geckos. Reading books about leopard geckos is an amazing way to hook their interests!
