My school is an urban school in a large city. Currently, there are over 2200 students enrolled. Lots of students come to school with nothing and rarely have an opportunity to get work done at home. Many students are responsible for their younger brothers and sisters while others have children of their own to take care of. A large group of students have jobs to help their family make ends meet. My students come to me with challenges that I can't even imagine dealing with as a teenager. Not only do they persevere, but many students thrive with the right tools and support behind them.
