I work at an elementary school with close to 1,000 students and we are continuing to grow, which is great. However, my school was built many moons ago and when I began teaching art here I was in a portable. This year with the opening of our new intermediate school, I was lucky enough to finally teach inside the school building but I still have my old portable furniture.
My tables are all different sizes, shapes, colors, some have holes in the tops, wobble like crazy and they have all been inherited from previous classrooms. Unfortunately, they do not function properly for my students as art tables and limit some of the things I am able to do with my students.
My students are a very diverse and deserving group of children and I know we could accomplish great things with the proper tables. These kids inspire me every day and I do my best to create the sort of environment that helps them flourish.
