These New York students are eager to learn and passionate about the world, but they need access to resources that will help them learn about the world and our government. The families at our school live in high poverty and are unable to provide resources to support their child's learning, but this does not stop them from sending their children to school everyday and hoping for the best education possible. Many of these students are English Language Learners and are students who live in shelters. Providing them with access to current events, new vocabulary, and knowledge of how the U.S. government works is an excellent way to help them become productive and involved citizens as adults.
