My students are awesome kids from a small city with very diverse backgrounds. Some are from other countries, or their parents or grandparents are. I see kids from Poland, Armenia, Nigeria, Jordan, Mexico, China and more. Most of my kids were born here and many have never been able to travel more than a few miles from home. They are usually between the ages of 8 and 10. They are curious and they ask many questions. They are a little behind in reading and/or writing. That is why they come to me. I help them catch up. I need to use a lot of visual aids to help them understand things. I see students in small groups for about 40 minutes two times a week. I see over 60 kids each week. These resources will be used by many. Our school is a K-5 elementary school. We don't get much funding for materials and often we make our own as well as we can. We are resourceful. We are very enthusiastic about learning.
