I have been teaching for 11 years and am preparing to begin my 9th year teaching 8th grade math at Mannington Middle School. Our school serves approximately 320 students in grades 5-8 from rural Marion Co. and is the oldest (and most beautiful) school in West Virginia. As a teacher, my goal is to make sure that my students have the resources that they need to not just succeed in the classroom, but also to succeed in life. Some students come to me with a wealth of knowledge and a desire to learn while others come with fear...feeling like they will never be able to understand math. Teaching is sometimes like a magic show and you have to be able to have that proverbial "rabbit in the hat" trick to use and sometimes that trick comes in the form of a different resource or technology that will grasp their attention and make difficult concepts seem a little easier.
