Children will pick up a new chapter book from a familiar series quicker than they pick up an unfamiliar chapter book. I have chosen a variety of series to appeal to the wide range of readers in my classroom. Some books are geared towards reluctant readers, others are specifically for ravenous readers. Some are about sports, others are realistic fiction, and others still are fantasy novels. The authors I have chosen have won awards and accolades because children and adults love them! Cynthia Rylant, author of the Mr. Putter and Tabby series and the Henry and Mudge series, has won Newberry awards, Caldecott awards, and more. The Land of Stories is a New York Times #1 Best Selling series. The series of books I want to give my students are high quality chapter books, written by well-known children's authors. No matter what kind of readers are in my classroom, I'm going to have a series they love and can't put down. I can't wait for my kids to start reading these books!!
