The aquarium will show the students by example our local wetland/river ecosystem, and how important it is to our city and habitat. 55% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. I want to give them experiences that I know they probably would not ever experience, while also giving them the science tools they need to grow. When we went to our local nature museum, my students were completely engaged in the hands on wetland/river exhibit. It gave them a glimpse into how our rivers work with the animals and plants together. I also want them to understand through first hand experience how important preservation is of our rivers, and the impact that man can have on all aspects of it. Ultimately so they will know the cause and effect of different elements on our local waters.
