All of our school's students, 9th-12th grade, are my students--the most rewarding students with whom I have worked to date. Our student body lives on the periphery of a large urban area and is richly diverse according to every measure. However our struggle with resources has been a roadblock to fully serving students and the staff who serve them. With the highest free and reduced lunch rate in our district, outreach for sharing clothing and food, daily medical care through our on-campus student health center, our kids continue to rise above and lean on the school--including the library--as a center of their support. I'm a big believer in exposure to literature as a way to gain experiences and develop perspectives normally prohibited by lack of resources. I look forward to sharing with them more accurate, updated, appealing materials that will encourage and inspire them to thrive.
