It has been a humbling experience for me to return back to my elementary school and work with some of the teachers I had when I was younger. When I first aired out my classroom, I found out that we will have a very low budget throughout the year. One that will be very difficult to sustain as the year progresses. With less than $300 allotted to my class, I am already struggling to find enough supplies to bring in a community Project Based Learning model to my students. My students will benefit from this project in every way. My students will be using the school supplies listed every day. The list I've curated are items every classroom needs, such as: pencils, erasers, coloring supplies, crafting supplies, notebooks, folders, etc. Since more than half of the students at my school are from low-income households, I want to be able to give all of my students the chance to be able to come to school without worrying that they do not have all the tools they need to succeed. These supplies and materials will give my students their best chance at success in third grade. We'll be working to develop the skills needed to create a solid understanding in math, reading and writing, social justice, and STEM. While I did not list very many third-grade level books, I would love to receive gently used elementary school books ranging from easy readers to beginner chapter books.
