“No one is born a good citizen; no nation is born a democracy. Rather, both are processes that continue to evolve over a lifetime. Young people must be included from birth. A society that cuts off from its youth severs its lifeline.” Former U.N. Secretary General and Ghanaian diplomat Kofi Annan This project will foster a welcoming and inclusive learning environment where literacy and a global mindset is essential. A majority of my students will enter junior high behind grade level in terms of literacy so that will be a crucial part of their social studies curriculum. With world maps, Times for Kids, and posters illustrating the path of leaders, their sense of activism and being apart of the global community will be fostered. While their academic growth is important, so is their social and emotional growth thus the focus on growth mindset.
