We learn better about the world around us through the literature we experience. In order to produce well-rounded students, my goal is to surround them with books that pique their interest and engage their inquiry. I specifically picked a mixture of books from various genres that teach different perspective (The 57 Bus, Touching Spirit Bear, A Long Walk to Water), or bring readers to other worlds (Harry Potter Series, I Am Number 4, Maze Runner), as well as different structures such as novels in verse (Long Way Down, Crank) and graphic novels (Maus I, Roller Girl). This will allow students of multiple levels to read and grow in my classroom.
