Dramatic play is essential in a child's early development. We as adults might not see how truly valuable play is for a young mind. During these playful interactions, young children are learning social skills that help prepare them for the rest of their lives. They learn life skills such as sharing, taking turns, compassion, and empathy. And yes, all of this happens during play! Having a classroom that provides students with these play opportunities is vital. I was able to give my students a plastic play kitchen and they absolutely loved it! Unfortunately, the kitchen did not last more than two weeks. It simply wasn't strong enough to handle 24 4-year olds loving attention. A sturdier kitchen will provide them with countless play opportunities and would last me for many years. I know that receiving this incredibly generous donation would bring immense joy and learning opportunities for my early learners. These TK'ers need play!
