Many of my students do not have access to literature at home. This project ensures they are able to check out books from the classroom that they are both interested in and can be exposed to. These books will also help with our guided reading small group instruction as we work on different literary skills. My students are inquisitive about the world around them and they will gain exposure to some of these themes with what is included in this project. Some of the books are also representative of my students, and in this, they are able to see themselves in literature. By the funding of this project, all of my students will have access to literature and developing an interest and love for reading while improving their ELA skills. I have a variety of leveled readers and varying interests in my class, and this project includes something for every one of my students. Many of my students set a monthly goal for reading improvement. With this project they will have daily practice of their literacy skills and get closer to their goals and ultimately seeing their capabilities. They will also expand their reading skills so they are able to have access to even more books, articles, and so forth that they may not currently have yet. I am so excited for my students and their journey!
