We live in northern Michigan, so we're used to cold weather and make sure we have enough outdoor gear for all of our students, but sometimes, it's just too cold! When the temperature drops below 10 degrees with wind chills (which can be for weeks at a time) we stay inside and do gross motor activities in our classroom or in the hallway. We have no other space to use, and, right now, no equipment. Portable equipment will give my students an opportunity to expend their energy and build upon their gross motor development, regardless of the weather! The Stepping Domes and Pogo Jumper help them work on balance. The soccer ball and goal allows for cooperative play and development of gross motor manipulation skills. The scarves can be used for props during dancing activities. Plus, it's all fun!
