My art room is a creative, welcoming space serving students from Pre-K through 5th grade in Washington, DC. Many of my students are discovering what it means to be an artist for the very first time. In our classroom, art is more than a fun activity. Students learn to observe, problem-solve, take creative risks, develop fine-motor skills, communicate ideas, and build confidence. We explore a wide variety of artists, cultures, materials, and techniques while making connections to literacy, math, science, and social studies. I work to create an environment where every child, regardless of ability or experience, can be successful. My goal is for students to leave the art room knowing that their ideas matter, their creativity has value, and they are artists.
