Hello my name is Ms. Smith. The classroom that I teach in is a self-contained MSD Unit. I do have 10 wonderful kiddos who have a vast variety of different special needs. Within my classroom all of my students have a disability that is very unique to them. I have some students who are non-verbal, a student who uses a g-tube to eat, students who have Autism, Multiple Disabilities, and are Developmentally Delayed. I teach Kindergarten through 5th grade and currently have two kindergarteners, two 1st graders, two 2nd graders, a 3rd grader, two 4th graders, and a 5th grader. Being in a MSD Unit gives me the opportunity to have 2 great assistants who are my back bone on a daily basis. This becomes very beneficial when working on my student's individual goals, feeding, changing, and our daily schedule. I am lucky enough to be able to keep my kid's all the way till they graduate from 5th grade. I love my job very much.
