Flexible seating allows students to take charge on their learning and make choices that works best for their needs. My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work. Currently my students enjoy working around the room, but are limited on seating choices. They would greatly benefit from having additional options. I would love to be able to provide a carpet area where students can gather to buddy read. Many of my students benefit from flexible seating and the use of technology in the classroom and being able to always have access to something of such value each day would be very beneficial for my students. Many of my students are able to improve their reading abilities with being able to play interactive literacy games and listening to stories. Reading and literacy are key part of each day in my classroom, and I am always building my classroom library and continue to need storage for all the books so my students always have access to multiple titles and genres. In addition, I like to provide reading materials to take home each week to encourage reading at home as well. This project would impact my students in many ways, meeting the needs of all! It would enhance the atmosphere each day creating a space that is calm, engaging and filled with learning!
