Compared to the traditional chairs and desks, I am looking to engage my students by using flexible seating. My kindergarteners love movement, reading and writing, and love positive reinforcement and attention. The new furniture, will transform my classroom into a student centered learning space and enhance student engagement. They will no longer be bound to a hard chair and desk; my students will be able to take control of their learning and find a work space that feels best for them. Creating an environment, in which students are offered seating choices, will foster active learning and can eliminate behavioral issues that may arise. I want my students to love coming to school and to feel safe and comfortable, the minute they step into my classroom. If you donate to my flexible seating project, you are helping to do just that.
