When my students use scarves in class, not only are they are able to express many elements of the music, including melodic direction, mood and tempo, but they are also able to explore their physical space in a way that they cannot in other classroom settings. When we use the playground balls, they are able to physically experience weak and strong beats in a fun way. The poly spots serve as an excellent tool to help facilitate line games, circle games, and even story telling games. In my music classroom, children are constantly engaged with exciting activities that stimulate their musical development while also fostering gross motor and socio-emotional skills. Having these items will help my students grow personally and academically while establishing a love of joyful learning!
