Writing is vital to children at all ages. In the preschool years students are beginning to identify basic features of print and experiment with writing skills, first by learning the correct grasp technique, then scribbles and letter-like forms, the whole way to forming their letters correctly. With a dedicated writing center the children will have an area where they can sit comfortably to develop and practice these skills. Using the blank books and follow the dots stampers the students will have the opportunity to become an author and illustrator. The dry erase boards will allow the children to have an individual writing area to practice their writing, especially when we are doing our letter of the week activities. Our children do show a love of writing already, and we feel that this will broaden their abilities and interests in writing.
