The Day of The Dead is a holiday celebrated in Mexico and by people of Mexican heritage elsewhere. The multi-day holiday involves family and friends gathering to remember those who have died. In Mexican culture, death is viewed as a natural part of the human cycle.  In our Spanish class we will be learning and exploring other cultures and their traditions. My students are more engaged with lessons if there are hands-on activities, as opposed to worksheets. As we learn vocabulary and traditions I will be assigning them a sugar skull project. My students will have to paint and decorate their own sugar skulls and write about what they have learned about the Day of the Dead celebration.
