These books will form a base of learning for the class to model behaviors. They will enrich class discussions and help not only with our growth mindset lessons, but will encourage children to begin to understand and appreciate the similarities and differences that we all share. Empathizing with others deflates and minimizes bullying mentalities and gives children tools to cope with situations that they encounter. The class becomes a “WE,” not a group of “mes”. If students feel good about themselves they can reach out to help others. My goal is to not only teach facts and problem solving to my students, but to also teach them to like themselves and understand and care about others and their feelings.

About my class
