I am striving to get my struggling readers to WANT to read. My students typically avoid reading because it is difficult and they get easily frustrated. With these Scholastic Magazines, I can provide relevant, high interest reading materials that we can read together as a class and then have thought provoking discussions. The magazines offer several articles per magazine which will not overwhelm my students as a book might. The reading length will also allow us to be able to read an article and discuss it all in one class period. Each lesson will focus on reading skills, reading for understanding and reading for main ideas and key details. My objective is for my students to enjoy what we read as well as being able gain insights, and opinions through class discussions. These Scholastic Magazines are filled with issues teenagers and young adults face everyday all around the World, which makes them a perfect reading choice.
