My students are all members of low-incidence (special education) classrooms containing students in grades K-8. The majority of my students have a diagnosis of Autism and a great deal of these kiddos are nonverbal. Communication is such a huge part of our every day lives! We need to communicate in order to express our basic wants, needs, and ideas. However, a large portion of the student population I work with is unable to do this. They require explicit instruction regarding how to communicate with others. Students receiving speech and language therapy receive support and instruction in order to communicate effectively and efficiently with others.
