I want to begin building a classroom that allows for learning to truly blossom and meet student's learning needs. Everyone learns differently, but I have found that almost all kindergartners learn through play, hands-on experiences, projects and the ability to move throughout the day. Thus, I desire to add additional resources to my classroom to enable hands-on experiences and flexible seating to enhance learning. Five and six year olds are so full of life, they are the embodiment of the energizer bunny! It is so important to me to be able to provide young children with materials that meet them where they are. On top of the hands-on experience, I want my students to feel comfortable in their classroom. Sitting at a table and chairs is not ideal for many young children. Thus, I want to add some flexible seating options to my classroom so students are able to choose where they are most comfortable to learn. Some ideas for flexible seating include scoop chairs, exercise balls, pillows and lapdesks for the floor.
